It's a date for breakfast with Brown Sugar, nuts and oats


My BF Lars and I went to this wonderful restaurant in Sheboygan Falls and I ordered this yummy oatmeal for breakfast. I had to recreate it and it turned out surprisingly similar. A real gourmet treat on a camping trip or a yummy breakfast on a Sunday morning.


1 3/4 C. water
1/4 C. milk
dash of salt
1 C. Steel cut oats
10 dates chopped
1/4 C. Raisons
1/4 C. Granola (Either homemade or storebought)
2 Tbs. Skim milk
1/4 C. each chopped almonds, walnuts, roasted peanuts
2 Tbs. Brown sugar or agave nectar or pure maple syrup
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. vanilla

heat water/ milk until almost boiling over med-high heat with a dash of salt. Add oats and stir in cinnamon, ground cloves and vanilla.
when oats absorb water/milk (~20 min.) Add dried fruit, and nuts stirring well.
remove from heat and dish out in bowls
Add brown sugar, granola, maple syrup milk to garnish oats.
Serve warm for a yummy/filling breakfast
